The honest comparison
How Dormetrics compares.
Four ways people check a Dutch rental. Here is what each one actually does — in each provider's own words, not ours.
Verification services
e.g. HousetectiveA person researches or inspects the property. Thorough — but you upload, wait days, and pay per report.
Free checkers & quizzes
e.g. Stekkies, RentHunterQuick gut-checks: is the ad fresh, does it trip common red flags. Handy, but no registry owner match.
Escrow marketplaces
e.g. HousingAnywhereYou book and pay through the platform. Real payment protection — but only for the listings inside it.
Competitor details from each service's own public pages, checked 2 July 2026. Prices change — some rivals A/B-test them — so confirm current pricing on their site. A comparison of published features, not an endorsement or a claim about any provider's results.
When the other options win.
Honestly, sometimes they do:
- Signing an unusual long-term lease, or a purchase-adjacent deal? A verification service that reads every clause and sends someone to the door is worth the days and the fee.
- Booking through an escrow marketplace anyway? Its payment protection is real — lean on it.
Dormetrics wins when the clock is real — when the room gets forty replies a day and the “landlord” wants the deposit tonight.
Whatever you choose: no check makes a stranger “safe” — including ours. A result is a risk signal, not a guarantee. View in person, pay a Dutch IBAN, insist on BRP registration.
